It was during her time at secondary school that Terri discovered her love for science, and during her time at university she discovered a love of organising and explaining complex concepts simply, be it through essays or presentations. After graduating and working in a seed testing laboratory for two years, she decided to accept that she wanted to enter the teaching profession, and after 15 years she has taught in several Cambridgeshire and Peterborough schools, in both mainstream education and the care sector.
In 2022 after 16 months of study she was awarded Chartered Teacher Status, a professional accreditation that recognises the knowledge, skills and behaviours of highly accomplished teachers. The course offered the opportunity to engage with the most recent educational research on how to teach students in the most suitable manner to maximise their success. However, through her own inquiry project, she also saw the value of ensuring that science is made relevant to all students, regardless of whether they progress into a scientific field or not.
She is looking forward to reinvigorating her own passion for teaching in a school with such a powerful ethos of supporting the development of the whole child.
