Young Carers
Manor Drive Secondary Academy, partnership with https://carers.org/, provides for Young Carers. We do this by promoting positive images and information about disability, illness and young carers. We consult and listen to young carers ensuring they have the time and space to talk. We embed them in existing school systems to monitor their wellbeing in the same way as other vulnerable student groups. We know this is vital because it reduces stigma and ensurers a positive ethos where young carers feel safe and confident in accessing support, whilst promoting self-indentification where a young carer may self-identify to a member of staff whom they feel they can talk to, creating long term change where young carers are on a similar footing to other vulnerable pupils.
Please contact Mrs Dommett at office@manordrivesecondary.org.uk if your child would like any support within the Academy.
Centre 33 provides support for young carers and young adult carers under the age of 25 who live in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Get in touch by emailing youngcarers@centre33.org.uk or call 0333 4141 809.
