Emma is an experienced science teacher, who, after qualifying in 2008 spent most of her career at our sister school, AMVC. She has a proven track record of helping her students to gain excellent results and inspiring many to go on to study science at sixth form and higher education. Emma has been a mentor for newly qualified teachers, a 6th form tutor and KS5 Co-ordinator for A level Biology.
Following a recent career break, Emma stepped into the role of Maths Learning Support Assistant and Intervention teacher, gaining valuable experience working more closely with SEND students. Previous to teaching, she worked in the publishing department and lead the web team at Thomas Cook and the Peterborough Telegraph. Emma is enthusiastic about the use of ICT in education and has a great deal of experience in this area, including in a paperless classroom environment.
Emma believes that everyone should leave school with a good understanding of science, enabling them to make informed decisions about their health and our shared planet. Of course, she also strives to inspire a love for her subject, be it astronomy, ecology or our own incredible bodies. Like her colleagues, she encourages a growth mindset and unashamedly pushes her students to aim high. However, she is no doubt that school is not just about leading students to success in exams but to help them become lifelong learners and critical thinkers, to be resilient and well-rounded members of the community.
