Expressive Arts

Expressive Arts encompasses Art, Drama, Music and Dance and all students will have the opportunity to study all of these subjects in Key Stage 3.  These are practical subjects which rely on the ability of participants to communicate and express their ideas and feelings in creative ways.  Therefore, it enables students to develop an understanding of themselves and others through the creation of a range of imagined situations.  The topics and themes covered by the Expressive Arts curriculum enable young people to develop their sensitivity and understanding of a multicultural society.

Through participation in a range of activities, students develop their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.  The curriculum is designed so that students can express opinions, develop their teamwork skills, negotiate, compromise, analyse, and accept and respond to constructive criticism which are all key life skills.
